SATFACTS: Live Cinema Broadcast Transmission Information

If you have read the Transmission Schedule (and especially for those who might not have English as a 1st language) this is just to clarify that there is definitely a 32 minute interval; it is just the content that is not yet confirmed

Services established on both 10-02 and AB3 at 09:24 GMT. All stable and synchronous. Both services down at 10:02 GMT

Services on IS10-02 and AB3 down at 21:55 – Isolated reports of audio dropout particularly effecting Topfield receivers. Not seen nor heard at UK teleport on Pro IRD. No AC3 alarms on downlink analyser.

IS10-02 & AB3 services established by 15:33. All stable.

Services down on AB3 and IS10-02 at 20:03. An entirely asyncronous transmission. Sync problems eminated from the outside broadcast in Paris and were entirely outside of our control.

Sync is still not correct coming out of Paris. The last clapper with me was audio leading pictures.  This was agreed at the UK teleport, in the US and at two downlink sites in the UK. I have been in contact with the French technical manager and he is doing his best to adjust…. Hopefully this will stabilise before the show.

There appears to be a few issues at the moment and some are resolved. The primary problem is with those using an Icecrypt receiver, this receiver will not lock to the signal on IS10-02 when using the published freq of 11522, however, there are several sites seeing the feed by tuning to 11513. If you can’t get IS10-02 we suggest you try 11513, but leave all the other parameters the same.

Sync has been unstable and we are confident that this is an issue from the French Outside Broadcast site. There have been several breaks in audio whilst they adjust. But all appears stable now…

Test TX begins at 16:00 GMT. 17:00 CET. Please remember that this is a DVBS 2, 8PSK transmission. You will also need to set ‘Pilot on’ particularly if you are using an Icecrypt. The helpline will be operational from 15:45 and throughout the transmission. Do call if you have any questions.
